Good Girls Don't, But I Do
Created by Joan Bruemmer
"Good Girls Don't, But I Do" is an innovative work incorporating both original and culled texts, movement, and song in an exploration of what it means to be a woman in contemporary society. Inspired by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider’s controversial Best Seller “The Rules: Time-Tested Secrets for Capturing the Heart of Mr. Right,” the piece humorously explores the do's and don'ts of dating from a variety of perspectives. Are there “rules” for meeting Mr. Right? "Good Girls Don't, But I Do" asks what inquiring minds wants to know.

From the first perfectly choreographed stomp to the last, GGDBID rings funny and true for good girls and bad - and everyone else, too! The Rules are served up in crinoline and comedy for a totally engaging performance. This is intimate theater at its best. Dont miss it!

Can I give Good Girls 6 stars? Because through the great music, dancing and hilarity I realized the dismaying truth that The Rules are still with us. I cant think of a better way to dismantle them - dont miss this play!

I was totally impressed with the hight quality of this production of feminism. It first I felt it was directed to my mothers generation but it got progressively more racy. the 8 women were all talented, evenly. The quality of dance, acting and singing were all very high. The writing sassy, pertinent and progressive. Highly recommended. Very fun!

great choreography and costumes content is a little thin and always seems to drop off before it should so reads more like an inside joke likely plays a lot better for women than men

This is a great start - really entertaining and very good timing. Great performance by all. The ending could be stronger and I would love a little more theater to take it out of the music hall style into something slightly less contrived. Then nothing will be able to stop you.

This is a wonderful show, one of the best Ive seen in a while. Joan Bruemmer has a great comedic mind, consistently inventive. The numbers are sophisticated and funny.
The women in the show are beautiful and execute their lines and dance numbers expertly. The only complaint I have is, why isnt Joan in the show and could it be expanded to 2 acts?

There is something so powerful about a cast full of showstopper women singing in unison, stomping, crying, venting, questioning, dancing with mops... This show was ablosutely delightful. Full of energy, humor, heart and truth. YOU MUST SEE IT!

Hands down the best show I have seen at the Fringe this year. I remember this companys show last year being really good, so I thought I would see what they were up to this year. Completely different ball of wax, but just as great.

The idea of a fringe festival is to use art to challenge some ideas, I thought.
But this play had the chance to explore the origins of the stereotypes of being a woman in todays world, of societal roles for men and women, and instead stayed on the safe route of singing and dancing to the cliches that are very easy to get an audience behind and cheering. See the other comments.
Overall, I found it to be prosaic and dare I say milquetoast. Where was the edge?

this show did TERRIFIC job of blowing stereotypes to pieces by exploiting them. it was a crowd pleaser for sure, but also provocative for anyone actually paying attention. im glad i was able to catch this and look forward to other productions by these groups.

Eight women overreact to silly book of rules written ten years ago. Rules are mostly common courtesy that apply to both sexes. Dialogue example: I just dont want to be bound by so many rules. Speaker then falls over in despair. The worst actress of group complains We were hvg lunch and a woman with a short skirt walked by. And he looked. Why do men do that? Apparently rules are bad for women but good for men? The play has its moments but doesnt quite take off, partly because it seems cl
