What is Fringe?
The Fringe, emulating a historic festival that spontaneously erupted in Edinburgh
Scotland in 1947 encourages audiences and artists alike to approach the arts with
a feeling of spontaneity and willingness to take risks, experience life and live
art in a fresh new way. For over 50 years International
Fringe Festivals around the world have been generating an atmosphere of
lively excitement and energy that engages the community.
Who is the Festival? YOU! The Boulder International Fringe festival accords
unique attention to what already exists in the community. Accessible to and created
by all, it unifies people on a local and global scale, bringing citizens together
in a broad array of family events, workshops, and commercial and cultural activity.
Why Fringe? Fun! The Festival develops audiences, stimulates economic growth
and enhances the creative community at large. By making the arts readily visible,
available and affordable, the festival supports and inspires local organizations
year-round. The Boulder International Fringe Festival is in service to the community,
building bridges between audiences, artists, businesses and civic organizations.
Oh yeah, it's deliriously fun!
