You know that, each year, the Fringe floods the city with 350 artists in hundreds of performances and events, in 12 days, featuring some of the most innovative and daring performance in the world today.
But did you also know that the Fringe co-produces new works throughout the year, with diverse local groups such as the Society for Creative Aging, Boulder County Arts Alliance, C.O.R.E. Innovations (art programs for developmentally disabled adults) and Band of Toughs?
Your donation supports:
- BIG TIME: We produce a monthly salon event, BIG TIME, which previews the work of up and coming local performance events and celebrates the Boulder performing arts community.
- FRINGE IN THE SCHOOLS: In the 2011 Fringe Festival, the Fringe staff lead a group of New Vista High School students through the process of creating and producing a Fringe show.
- FAST FORWARD FRINGE: in addition to this year’s Fringe Festival, we also brought poets and filmmakers together for our Poetry in Motion film festival in non traditional venues.
- CULTURAL FRINGE: Each year we partner with local arts educators such as Carlos Heredia and mentor high school students who are part of the youth arts board Teens Inspiring Community Arts (TICA). Specific details of population segments reached with Fringe programming.
- NEW STAFF STRUCTURE: In 2012, the Fringe is planning to hire a full-time Executive Director for the first time in its existence. The Festival board will be consolidating contracts and making a strategic and exciting move toward the sustainability of the Fringe Festival in Boulder.
The Fringe pays 100% of ticket proceeds to the participating artists. We do not take a percentage. In 2011, we made it possible for our artists to earn $41,157 in ticket sales.
With our earned revenue (tickets and retail) and government support running strong each year, this only accounts for 49% of what it costs to run the festival. This means we must gather the rest of our operating income from the support of private foundations and from you, our individual supporters. Please click here to see our financial overview.
