Dear Boulder International Fringe,

SEE FRINGE UNHINGE ON OPENING NIGHT
Tadum! Just like that, 2008 Fringe has arrived. The madness will kick off tonight at 6:00 p.m.
with the Opening Night Celebration at the Boulder Theatre, which is a Boulder Fringe epic and mustn't be missed.  In fact, my spidey senses are tingling, saying you should figure out while at the show tonight what you'll say when you call in sick tomorrow.
Yup, that fun.

Speaking of missing out, now isn't the time to freeze-up on your fringing. We'd hate to see you get lost in the wake of those die-hard, olympiad Fringers, so we've taken the liberty of putting together your personal fringe Cliffs Notes.  It's not cheating, it's just learning really fast.
Here goes:

  1. Your festival program is your new wedding ring - have it on hand, or else.  Available at The Dairy, The Laughing Goat, or boulderfringe.com.
  2. Know your venues.  This year's venues are clearly mapped out on page 14 of the program.
  3. Going on a Fringe Binge? Of course you are. Go pro; buy a Fringe punch pass at the Dairy
  4. Do deep lunges - stay limber for sprinting to the next show.  Like the wind, baby!
  5. Catch the buzz of all of the great workshops. Everyone's doin it; it'll make ya feel reeeeal good.
  6. Ma-me-may-mo-moo -  warm up those vocal cords for all those cool chats with strangers
  7. And for goodness sake, have your answer ready to "seen any good shows?" cuz you will  be asked.
Be sure to check out upcoming Fringe workshops on pg 27 of your program ~ it's an amazing lineup this year.  This weekend: Jimmy Hogg will teach How to Create Your One-Person Show (Fri, Sat & Sun), Ira Liss will teach Song and Story Improv (Sat & Sun), Mark Whitney will teach Stand-Up Comedy Technique and Performance (Sat), and Katsura Kan will teach Butoh theatre traditions (Sat-Fri).  Don't miss out!

That's all for now.  See you in the funny papers.
