Dear Fringe Enthusiast,

Well folks, the madness and the art and the beauty are officially underway. I guess you could say the
inmates are running the asylum.

Performer from Fragile Creep's "At a Distance I Can Say" perusing the program.

Need help deciding what shows to see? Be sure to check out what other people are saying about the shows at boulderfringe.com

While you're there, be sure to rate what you've seen, too.  And don't forget the ever-valuable word of mouth; chat it up with your neighbor in line & get their take on it all.  Who knows, maybe you'll make a new friend, or lover, or accountant.  You just never know.  One-person shows have become ensembles this way.  Wars have been won.  Well, maybe not WORLD wars - but certainly personal wars.  And really, if the world was as open-minded as your average Fringe go-er, there probably wouldn't be any war at all.  Unless, of course, you took away their light & sound technician, or threw a trash can at them during a performance... (which happened, by the way, according to a recent press release).  Anyway, I digress.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:  Are you eatin' this UP? Lovin' the Fringe? You wish you could just mash it together, squish it a little & then roll around in it? You don't want to eat or sleep, just go to shows? Well, you're not alone.  National Studies have recently shown a large percent of liberal minded Americans are "Frincontinent", just like you. Here at BIFF, we're conducting our own study and are looking for Fringe Volunteers.  And the best part is, become a volunteer & you'll earn points for a free show. It's enabling at its most artistic.  Don't miss out; the fringe benefits are outstanding.

Eddy the Eskimo hosting the Opening Night Celebration

Shazam! It's time for C.R.A.B, everybody, Whoop, whoop! C.R.A.B (Constantly Risking Absurdity Baby) takes place every night at 10pm at The Laughing Goat Coffee House.  If you haven't met Eddy the Eskimo yet, then you may want to pee before the show starts, otherwise there'll be an awful mess.

Tomorrow there are 3 terrific workshops that just won't be the same without you:  Jimmy Hogg teaches How to Create Your One-Person Show, Ira Liss teaches Song and Story Improv, and Katsura Kan teaches Butoh theatre traditions (this wkshp runs now through Fri, Aug 22).

Wanna be in pictures? You might be already!
Fringe Photographer Jodee Spalding (also "Frincontinent" & not afraid to shout it) is posting Fringe Festival photos daily here. See box office for purchase info. Also, check out the "Memories of Boulder Fringe" photo book; it's your best value & a great keepsake with 75 or more Fringe photos.

That's all for now.  Peace out, Fringe Feasters!

Eddy wants to know...
Think you're an avid Fringer? Prove it! Here's a bit of trivia that'll get your head spinning.

QUESTION:  According to the Festival Program, what is the record number of shows one person has seen in a 12 day Fringe Festival?

Bring your answer to tonight's Daily C.R.A.B. with Eddy the Eskimo at Fringe Central - A.K.A. the Laughing Goat Coffee House at 10:00 PM (it's free!) (it's fun!) (it's absurd!) (you haven't been to Boulder Fringe until you've been to C.R.A.B!)

P.S. Tonight's C.R.A.B. will also feature interviews with:
Joan Bruemmer & Lizi Watt from Wreckinball Theatre Lab
Aaron Jennejahn & Mark Read from Maya Productions
Beth Isbell of Transgender Rights Alt Music Show
